May 2005

A quick Q&A with Tom Denmark

Headquartered in Norcross, Flo Healthcare designs and builds wireless mobile workstations that let doctors and nurses more effectively connect with real-time patient information at the point of care. With Flo workstations, clinicians spend more productive time with patients, and hospitals improve delivery and quality of care, data accuracy and patient safety.

1. What are your goals for your company for 2005?

Last year was a year of tremendous growth and accomplishment for Flo Healthcare. Our focus for 2005 is to build on that momentum and execute our business strategies -- increasing market share, improving customer service and support, and producing a superior product that allows us to sustain our market leadership.

2. What is the greatest challenge you've faced in your position as CEO?

Assembling the management team and infrastructure to support our 50 percent growth each year as we did in 2004. We have tripled our staffing in the last 15 months and that has required significant restructuring of roles and responsibilities as well as identifying, hiring and training the right people. It is very exciting to see their hard work, expertise and commitment to excellence pay off - not only in the business' results but also in the growth of each individual, personally and professionally.

3. How do you stay in touch with the daily operation of the company and your employees?

Through daily contact with all levels of the organization. I accomplish this by participating in many of the departmental meetings as well as our "all hands" weekly meetings. The best way to understand the opportunities and issues of the company is by getting out and talking and listening to the employees, business partners, and especially our customers. We are a very hands-on organization that practices an open door policy.

4. What is your best piece of business advice?

Always stay focused on the two most important assets of your (any) business: Your employees and your customers. Take care of those and you will be successful.

5. What have you done differently than those you've served under or worked with to get where you are today?

I have been fortunate to have worked with and under some very talented individuals. The one thing I've learned is that every company and every employee is unique. Although some of the core values and business rules apply to all situations, you must recognize the nuances of each business and its team members and provide leadership accordingly.

6. How has your company's Gwinnett location affected it?

The extraordinary talent pool that resides in Gwinnett County has proven to be a haven for recruiting new positions. The close proximity to I-85 provides easy access for our employees as well as local and out-of-state visitors.
