Women drivers wanted

With a waiting area that looks like a model home, ultra-clean service bays, courtesy shuttle service, and a commitment to honesty and integrity, Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation (CBAC) is anything but the stereotypical auto repair shop. The company's unique business model is finding favor with customers of all genders – most notably among women auto owners.

The Houston-based company will open its third Gwinnett location in Grayson this winter, near the intersection of Moon Road and Loganville Highway, giving residents access to the rapidly expanding auto repair franchise that company officials say has created a "culture shock" in the marketplace with its commitment to honesty and integrity. Christian Brothers also has locations in Suwanee and Hamilton Mill, as well as in Alpharetta and Stockbridge.

Riding out the recession

Lawrenceville area real estate groups and businesses that provide non-essential goods or services have been suffering as of late. Not as many customers are finding the need for a new home, a nice meal out, or a new pair of shoes. A local networking group of business owners and Rodney Cameron, a local real estate agent for Star Team Atlanta, a subsidiary of Keller Williams Realty, took notice of the decline and decided to do something about the problem.

Assurant opens Duluth office

Assurant Specialty Property, a provider of creditor-placed homeowners insurance, auto collateral protection insurance and related services, opened the doors to its new service center at 2975 Breckinridge Blvd. in Duluth.

The new center initially adds 85 new jobs to the company's existing employment in Gwinnett, increasing the total to approximately 1,175, making Assurant one of the largest private employers in the community.
